Cole 6 Months: October 4, 2013

6 months. 182 days. Half a year already... just like that. Thank you for blessing us everyday with your sweet, smiley self, Cole-Man.  I know we're biased and all but you really are the best baby that brings so much joy to anyone you're around.  May you always carry that trait with you in life!

Height: 27 inches, 69%
Weight: 18 pounds, 5 ounces, 66%
Head Circumference: 17.5 inches, 69%

Diapers: Made it into the 3s now.  Boo to having less diapers per box... but woo-hoo for using less diapers in a day compared to newborn/early months.  Guess it evens itself out there.

Clothes: Depending on the brand, you are wearing 6 months, 6-9 months, and 6-12 months.  I LOVE all the fall outfits we have for you.  I especially love putting you in all your plaid button up shirts for church. You look like such a dapper gentleman!

Food: Your eating schedule is the exact same as last month cause it's going so well.  You have 2 servings of solids at three meals a day- breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  You also nurse or take bottles 6 times a day.  We got the go ahead from Dr. Rita to give you any stage 1 or 2 foods during your solids meals.  I think we've tried almost every single option and so far you love anything and everything... minus the peas still. Smart boy! Meats, fruits, veggies, combos, rice cereal, oatmeal, etc... you like a big variety.

Sleep: This was probably the worst month of sleep you've had so far in your life.  We're trying to stay positive and remind ourselves it's not terrible compared to other stories we've heard but it's definitely an adjustment to what we've been used to.  Things could always be worse... that's what we are telling ourselves.  About 50% of the nights in a week you cry your head off until we comfort you by picking you up and rocking with you.  We tried really hard not to do this so you didn't become accustomed to it... but how could we not?  We asked Dr. Rita about letting you cry it out and she didn't recommend it... but we've heard/read that it works so we feel really torn on what to do.  I fully admit that you're manipulating us because we can see it on the video monitor- you'll cry your head off like there's no tomorrow, stop, then look at the doorway to see if anyone is coming.  If no one comes to your rescue then it's back to your screams.  If we do come in you give us a big ole grin to show just how happy you are to see us.  Manipulator!  We need some major help on what to do about this. Naps are about the same as last month.  Miss Wendy swears up and down that you don't want to sleep because you're afraid you'll miss something.  I have no idea who you get that from ;) You're still taking around 3-4 cat naps randomly throughout the day.  You do nap better at home on the weekends so we know you can do it!  This month you became a big time sleep mover- all over the place like you're always done but now you'll switch directions and also move back and forth from your back to your tummy.

Milestones and Firsts:
-We survived our first time with having Dad gone for a business trip.  He was gone for an entire week to Boston and we both were SO happy to have him back at home with us.  I found a whole new appreciation for single moms, military moms, moms who have hubbies who travel all the time, etc. It was really hard work being a working single mom trying to do everything on my own.  Thank goodness you're a good baby- that at least made it easier on me!
-You went to your first Blazer game as a part of my 10 year high school reunion weekend.  I can't wait to see you proudly wear that Blazer blue someday!
-You are an official army crawler! Wow. It's been unbelievable to watch you master this!
-While army crawling you'll try to "real" crawl too by getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth.  You also get into the "bear crawl" position up on your tip toes but don't really go anywhere.
-On 9-20 you got to attend your first wedding rehearsal for Uncle Kurty and Jennie.  You didn't make it to the wedding but we'll count the rehearsal instead.
-You now have some big boy toys that require you to sit up and you can play for any length of time sitting up now.  The lights and sounds still mesmerize you and you bang away on them all day long.
-Since you have no problem sitting up we started doing some baths with you sitting up in your baby tub and you play with your "Super Duck" from Grammy the whole time.
-We baked you a cake for your 6 month birthday and let you have a tiny lick of the icing.  I think more came out than made it down though. The neon blue icing definitely got drooled out and all over you!
-If we stand you up and lean you against something you'll keep yourself propped up to jump up and down.

Likes:
-Skyping with Daddy was fun cause you got to see/hear him and wanted to eat the phone.
-Screaming.  Both of us and Miss Wendy commented that you've always been a chatty one but this month you increased your volume.  Yikes. Another trait I might have to blame on me for.
-We started having you wear a plastic bib since you're so messy and this fascinated you.  The first night you ate the bib more than the food and ended up wearing it as a cape cause you played with it so much.
-You find our faces to be fascinating.  You'll touch, tug, and pinch all over while holding open your mouth in curiosity.  Then you'll bring our face to yours for the sloppiest open mouth kiss ever and I absolutely love it- even more than I did last month :)
-Watching Dad play softball.
-Playing peek-a-boo or getting scared by us hiding then jumping out with a big, "Boo!" gets you to laugh hysterically.
-"Tasting" the air every single time we are outside by opening your mouth and sticking out your tongue.
-Anything exciting makes you kick your legs like a mad man!
-Snuggling- you are a lover and still enjoy being held and cuddled whenever you're feeling sleepy or lovey.

Dislikes:
-Seeing us eat when you aren't- man oh man do you grunt, fuss, and arch your back out of your seat to get our attention.  And, if we give you a sample you'll demand more because one taste wasn't good enough.
-Your shots were a few days before your 6 month birthday and they gave you a fever of 101.  You were so hot and sad that whole day.  All you wanted to do was snuggle and sleep with me which of course I loved.

Mom's Favorite Moment:
Watching you learn how to army crawl completely blew me away this month.  You are all over the place and it's shocking how fast babies learn and take in their surroundings.  We laugh at you a lot because you have a very unique army crawl we enjoy watching.  You use your hands and arms to steer yourself but when it comes to your feet to help push you along, you only use your big toes. You curl the rest of your toes in and push as hard as you can by digging your big toe in the carpet, wood floor, etc.  It seems to work for you so we get a kick out of it.  It's the little things like this that I hope I'll always remember as you continue to grow and change.

Dad's Favorite Moment (in Dad's words):
I think my favorite moments have been watching you crawl to your toys. Once you get there your face lights up and you giggle. We can actually set you down by your toy workbench and you'll sit there and play with it like a big boy. It makes me ready to build you your own workbench in the garage that way we can spend some quality man time together in the man cave!

Cole 5 Months

Whew, Cole-Man, your 5th month easily swept by in the blink of an eye.  What an emotional and transitional month we had with Mom going back to work but we survived and love you more with each passing day.  You are the most incredible little person and are So. Much. FUN.  I can't wait for all of the fall traditions and excitement we have planned for the upcoming autumn months!

Height: 26 inches
Weight: 18 pounds
Head Circumference: 17 inches
*no percentile because no dr. appt this month

Diapers: We are still sticking you into 2's until we run out. We had just opened up a huge box when we noticed they quickly started getting tight on you.  The 3's are ready and waiting for you!

Clothes: You're at a good stage where you can wear a few 3 months still (at least in bottoms), 3-6 months, and 6 months.  So many choices to pick from it's fun to dress you everyday!

Food: Our little eater :) You just keep putting it away no matter what type of food we throw your way.  You finally started liking rice cereal right after you turned 4 months. Now that I've returned to work we are also on a new eating schedule.  You nurse with me in the morning right after you wake up, right after we get home in the later afternoon/early evening and once more before bed.  At daycare you are taking 3-4 bottles a day about 2-2.5 hours apart (each around 5 oz). You also have a serving of rice cereal shortly after drop off and have 1-2 servings of veggies with your lunch.  You started your veggies this month and can't get enough of them!  You started with squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans, then peas. The only one you don't like so far is the peas- I don't blame you one bit either cause I hate peas!  At dinner you have 2 servings of veggies and will whine in between spoonfuls cause you just can't get enough.  You make all sorts of "Mmmm" sounds while you eat and cry if we pause during eating time to go do something.  We also have been putting samples of our food in your mouth to see what kind of reaction we get from you.  Our favorites so far have been your "yuck" face after sucking on a pickle and the "OMG this is so good" face to some chocolate ice cream.

Sleep: Daycare has really changed up your sleeping schedule.  You now go to bed around 8 pm and will wake up between 6-6:30 am. 50% of the nights you are also waking up between 4-5 am and you think it's playtime.  Dad is nice enough to get up with you and rock you to sleep since I am up pumping each night from 3-3:30 am.   We stopped swaddling you mid-month and made the transition to sleep sacks.  We were really worried about this change since you had loved being swaddled since you were born but you took it like a champ. This month you also started rolling to your tummy while you are asleep.  Sometimes rolling to your tummy will upset you and you'll wake up.... other times you'll just keep on sleeping. Naps have really changed too- you have become a cat napper and will only take short 20-45 minute naps, around 3-4 a day, at Miss Wendy's.  Nothing like your long 2-3 hour afternoon naps I had with you.

Milestones and Firsts:
-You started attending daycare in August when Mom went back to work.  Luckily, Miss Wendy loves you and you love her.  It's just you and one other little girl that is 6 days younger than you, McKenzie (McKenzie's mom works with Mom at Wheatridge). Jeryn goes to daycare right across the street from you too so you guys get to go do things together.  She brags and loves all over you that you're HER cousin to anybody that will listen.
-We started taking you to church services every Sunday and you really like it because of the stained glass windows and the music. We've been going to the 8:30 service and it works out perfect with your morning feeding/nap routine.  Plus all the church people that remember me from growing up in the church love carrying on and being entertained by you.  You have THE biggest smiles for them every Sunday. You really ham it up for them.
-You get to ride in the stroller all on your own now- no more carseat in the stroller.
-We took you to pick peaches for the first time and you loved it- we let you have a sample :) It was so HOT that afternoon but you didn't act like you cared at all.
-You had your first experience at the Johnson County Fair- this was always such a fun week when I was a kid so this year was extra special taking you and J-Fe there together.  You were mesmerized with all the lights and sounds.
-You and J-Fe had your first cousin bath together.  You were in your baby tub and Jeryn sat in the big tub right by you.  You two were so cute playing and splashing around!
-We traveled to Yates Center for the first time so you could meet Grandpa Cliff.  He loved you of course :)
-You also took your first trip to Warrensburg for a church service that honored Grandpa McMillan for his 81 years of service and membership at his church.
-You pet your first baby bunny and were fascinated.
-This month you started holding your own bottles for feeding with Wendy.
-Proud father/son moment- you did your first bath fart bubbles with Dad.  He beamed with pride at you ;)
-Moving moving moving this month!  You're not crawling but you know how to roll and pull yourself all over the floor to get to your destination you have in mind.  If a toy is out of reach you'll move to get to it.
-This month you discovered that you can control your hands and grab what you want.  You no longer grab things by accident, you grab objects because YOU want them.  Then they normally end up in your mouth for a taste test.

Likes:
-Anything that is colorful, lights up, or makes noise immediately gets your attention.
-Having "guy time" with Dad in the garage.  You boys hang out in the man cave and you'll play and watch whatever project Dad is working on.
-You love eating/talking/watching your electronic dog, Scout.
-The furbabies fascinated you this month.  You scoot anywhere you can to watch them and grab any fur you can get your hands on.  Poor Harlee is usually your main victim cause she rarely leaves your side.
-Your plush football tag toy has become a favorite- it was almost like you knew football season was here. No lie.
-Laying and playing outside on our outdoor blanket.  We did this a lot in the cooler days and evenings.  We even took naps outdoors in the shade together- so peaceful!
-Daycare with Miss Wendy and McKenzie.  She tells us everyday what a happy, sweet, and playful boy you are all day.  She says you'll babble and carry on all day, just happy as a clam. Makes leaving your everyday a bit easier when I know how happy you are and how much attention and love you receive since it's just two babies there.
-Pinching- oh my word do you love pinching now.  I've actually gotten bruises from you and Dad has lost some chest hair ;)

Dislikes:
-The dogs barking really loud.
-Going down slides.  Dad held you in his lap and took you down a blowup slide at Monkey Business for Henry's birthday party.  NOT a fan of it at all- it was also the tallest one so we might be partially to blame for that ;)
-Having to eat peas.
-Napping at daycare- why sleep when you can play?

Mom's Favorite Moment:
Since you discovered that you control your hands this month you really used them to show affection. You'll grab my face with both hands and pull me to you for your wettest/sloppiest kiss.  I LOVE it :)

Dad's Favorite Moment (in Dad's words)
So I've had a few favorite moments this past month. I've had the pleasure of getting up with you in the middle of the night since you decided to start waking up while rolling over. It's so much fun being able to rock you to sleep and fall asleep myself, all while rocking together. The second thing this month that has been fun and scary is to watch you finally eat solid foods. I say scary because I remember how much I used to eat and I swear my parents hated me because of that. And so far you are holding true to the Olivier form...and yes I've started looking for a second job in order to keep up with our future food bill.

Cole 4 Months

Forgive me sweet boy if your mother has been a wreck here lately.  I'm definitely mourning the fact that after 4 months together I have to go back to work this Friday.  I've only cried everyday for the last week just thinking about it.  Friday is not going to be a pretty sight.  Thank you for filling the last 127 days with more joy than I ever imagined.  I've been so lucky that during these last 18 weeks together it was me who got to see you develop and hit every milestone.  It was me who got to be your 24 hour buffet, making sure you were happy and fed.  And it was me who cuddled with you nap after nap, not wanting to put you to sleep in your crib.  Shhh... don't tell Dad how often we did this.  I will be forever grateful that God delivered you to us in perfect timing to allow me to spend your first 18 weeks of life with you.  We've had a good run, you and I, and I'm already counting down to next summer.  Happy 4 months Cole-Man! We love you forever!

Height: 25.2 inches, 58%
Weight:16.3 pounds, 76%
Head:42 cm, 50%

Diapers: Still rocking the size 2s.  You did have your first incident of diaper rash this last week.  It lasted about 4 days and looked like it hurt, but you never acted like it bothered you.

Clothes:  3-6 months fit you much better but I'm still forcing a lot of your 3 month clothes on because you have so many, they are so darn cute, and it makes me sad you won't get to wear them anymore.  You don't seem to mind so we're going with it- sorry a few have given you wedgies.  You are wearing large in swaddlers and sleep sacks.

Food: You are still nursing during the day every 3 hours for 20-30 minutes.  We have also started you on your first solids- rice cereal- and you hate it!  It does seem to be getting better each time we feed it to you but so far you don't act like you enjoy it.  The first time we did it you looked genuinely confused about what was happening.  Secretly I'm glad you still prefer eating with me but I know you need these foods to keep you big and strong.

Sleep: You still sleep about 10 hours straight every night (9:30 pm-7:30 am).  Although, on the morning of your 4 month birthday you woke up at 5 am demanding to be fed.  We both felt like zombies because it's been months since that has happened (plus I get up every night at 3 am anyway to pump). Once you were fed you went back to sleep until your normal time.  Coincidentally, that same morning I got an email from a mommy discussion group I joined and it said that at 4 months expect some sleep regression similar to a newborn's schedule.  Yup- nailed it right on time buddy.  It explained something about your pineal gland, brain, and non-REM sleep all adjusting.  Basically, it said your body is going through some changes that will affect your sleep cycles and we should start trying some sleep training while you go through it.  Here's to hoping you go back to your normal sleep pattern :)

Milestones and Firsts:
-You started balding this month- started on your left side then moved to the back.  You have about 25% of the hair you were born with and what you have left is much blonder now.
-You offically can roll both ways now.  You learned how to tuck that shoulder and go back to belly now and are doing it all the time.
-You scoot all over the floor now by pulling yourself along with blankets.  I went upstairs for some diaper cream and when I came back down you had turned 180 degrees and were facing the complete opposite direction of where I left you.  And you were naked... quite the scene I came down to.
-You can sit up by yourself with no pillows for a period of time.  It's so cute to see you sitting up like a little person.  But eventually that head gets too heavy and you sway to the side.
-You had your first overnight away from us and did a million times better than Mommy.  We had a wedding in Denver and left you for one night in GB with Abuelo and Abuela.  I only cried for the fist 30 minutes of the trip which I think was pretty good for the first time ;) You were in good hands and had a blast with your grandparents... and we made it back to you within 30 hours.  Fast and fun trip!
-We took you to the Kansas City Zoo for the first time (also Dad's first time!) and I think you really enjoyed it.  We think you liked the polar bears the most because they were putting on quite a diving/swimming show for us and we had you right up to the glass where they were pushing off.  You had your mouth open watching them. Might have to get a family zoo pass next year for you!
-I took you to your first official baby playdate with the other 3 Wheatridge boys (Easton, Keaton, and Kaeden) that were born this past spring to some of Mom's co-workers.  You four boys had a blast and are all within a 3 month age range of each other. Kaeden is only 5 days younger than you too!

Likes:
-Your jumper/activity station is your new love.  You have a blast in that thing and keep yourself easily entertained.  Your favorite parts on it right now are the plastic sun, the spinning wheel thing, and the chair itself cause you try to eat it.  You bounce like crazy having a fun time.
-You could stare at yourself in the mirror all day.  It's so cute to watch you smile, laugh, and talk to that baby in the mirror.
-You absolutely love looking at your own pictures and watching/hearing videos of yourself- on video, the computer, our phones, etc.  You think that's a good looking boy and we agree!
-Being tipped backwards or upside down is a surefire way to get some belly laughs from you.  You  think it's the funniest thing ever.
-You really like grabbing Harlee's fur and legs since she's always right next to you like your own personal bodyguard.
-You are still obsessed with your hands and putting things in your mouth this month. We introduced you to your Sophie the Giraffe toy and you fell in love with her immediately.  You love everything about Sophie- her ears, head, booty, legs, etc.  Whatever part fits in your mouth you've tried.
-The tag blanket that Abuela made you is tied in first place with Sophie as your favorite things to hold.  We're all convinced you'll be a blankie baby like your Dad was.
-Music got you really excited this month.  The music on your jumper especially gets you going.
-Blowing bubbles keeps you quite messy but you get a kick out of it.
-We started sitting you in your Bumbo on the dinner table to eat with us and you love it.  I do too- our little family dinners with the 3 of us makes me very happy.
-Talking, talking, talking to us.

Dislikes:
-Rice cereal- see above :)
-You do NOT like being alone.  Even if I just step out of a room to go do something real quick you let me know that it wasn't cool to leave you.  But as soon as I'm back within eyesight you're happy again and go about your business playing.
-Burping became a wrestling match this month.  You insist on standing up for burpings and want to swivel your head all around to observe the action.  Makes it quite a chore to catch any spit up that's coming my way.  The best way I've found to burp you is to literally sandwich your head with mine.  I put my hand on one side of your head and press your head cheek to cheek with mine to force you to stay still.  Does not make you happy!
-Projectile spit up this month.  Oh wait, that's Mom's dislike.

Mom's Favorite Moment:
Can I pick a whole entire month?  No? Okay if I'd have to pick I'd probably say cuddling in bed with you is my favorite from the month.  We don't do co-sleeping for fear of smothering you (2 adults and 2 dogs already hog the bed and I've got some crazy arms in my sleep!) but we do enjoy the morning feeding-dozing-cuddling sessions together.  During the week it's just the two of us with the fur siblings nearby and I get to hold you for about an hour after your morning feeding.  We both lightly doze and your baby breath blows in my face and I'm pretty sure I could die happy right there in that moment.  I put you in the middle on my left side to keep you safe, but also because you rotate towards the left which means you turn and cuddle right into me.  I could watch you sleeping all day- the way you sleep suck... probably dreaming of boob sandwiches, your chest rising and falling with your deep breaths, and the way you stretch both arms above your head like a little man.  Sometimes on the weekends Dad stays in bed to cuddle with you too and I love seeing my two boys all stretched out in bed.  When you're both shirtless it's even better.  I swear I look at the two of you and it's like I can picture you as a grown man.  I know that with me going back to work that these occasions will only happen on the weekends now so I'm beyond thankful that I spent most of the last month napping with you by my side.

Dad's Favorite Moment (in Dad's words):
I'd have to say some of my favorite moments have been watching you in your new jumper seat. It's amazing how fast you have been able to figure out all the bells and whistles for it.  Another awesome moment was when I was able to finally see you roll over from your back to your belly, you are getting so close to crawling, and I can't wait for that. It means you are that much closer to walking and hanging out with dad in the man cave and outside.

Look how you've changed!

A Day in Cole's Life @ 3 Months

Happy 3 months to you Cole Man!  Here's what your 3 month birthday looked like on July 4, 2013.

We got into Great Bend the night before and you hoot-owled until 11 pm.  Luckily, Abuela had her pack-n-play all set up and ready for you to crash out in her scrapbook room.  We started hearing you fuss a little after 7 and came to check on you.  You had rotated 90 degress like usual and had also houdini-ed your way out of your swaddler.

We got you up to change your booty and start your morning feeding in bed with me while Dad headed outside with Abuelo to start their house siding project.  Around 8ish both you and Mom went back to sleep.

At 9 we both woke up for the day and headed outside to check on the men and their project. They are slaving away and then make a Sutherland's run.  Then GGG arrives to see you.  I hand you off to her and get myself ready for the day.

Once I'm ready I get your clothes set out for the day and one of your grandmas dresses you in one of your new 4th of July outfits. At 10:45 you are ready to eat again so we hang out and watch some TV while you eat.

By 11:20 you've finished your lunch and Abuela takes you for cuddles. Around 11:45 Aunt Angie and the boys arrive and Angie gives you a bag FULL of cute new outfits for you to wear. I also get my birthday present a bit early- it's the adult version of a sippy cup for "adult juice" ;)

Dad and Abuelo take a break from their siding project around noon so me, Dad, Angie, and all the boys head to the firework stand.  Right after we leave you decide to throw up on GGG when Abuela is handing you over- right down her shirt. Then you decide it's naptime with GGG..

The firework place in GB is HUGE and it's crazy packed.  Dad is like a kid in a candy store and we spend around $35 on lots of fun stuff for later tonight!  Not too bad considering your Dad wanted one of everything.  He can't wait until you both get to blow stuff up together when you are older.

We get home a little after 12:30 and have lunch.  Abuelo grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and your grandmas put together a huge spread of delicious food.  You're still sleeping with GGG and don't mind the lunch commotion.

After we all finish lunch we head outside so the boys can start the firework fun.  Dad, cousins Jeramie, Jordan, Joshua, and their friend Derek all enjoy fireworks like typical boys.  All I know is their fun included duct tape, storm drains, water, and who knows what else they thought up.

GGG tries to bring you out to enjoy the firework but one of the really loud booms scares you so she takes you back inside.  Notice your 4th of July bib from Angie?  Thank goodness she got that for you cause you really needed it- you were having a very drooly day.

We all enjoy sitting outside watching the boys.  It's actually a very pretty July afternoon- out of the ordinary for hot and windy GB!

We're not quite sure who was having more fun with the fireworks- your cousins or your Dad.

Around 2 you decide you're hungry again but fall asleep after feeding for awhile.  I try laying you down but you wake back up after 5 minutes and are happy and playful so I take you back outside.  This time the fireworks aren't bothering you. You hang out with cousin Jeramie after he made you some smoke bomb art on the sidewalk.  We of course have to take your picture with it... it's just like Jeryn's pics from her first 4th of July.

A little after 3 we all head inside for Jordan's birthday celebration.  He's a firecracker baby and has a 4th birthday like you- but yours is April and his is July.

Angie and the boys head back home and around 3:30 you fall asleep with Abuela.  I go to our bedroom to take some allergy medicine for my horrible chigger bites and while browsing on my phone accidentally fall asleep.  I end up falling asleep from 4-5:30 and it felt awesome.  Mommy needs naps sometimes too I guess.  While we're all napping, Daddy and Abuelo start re-siding the house again.

Dad got a new toolbelt that weekend and is obsessed with it.  He only raved about it a few times ;)  Hopefully you'll like tools and projects as much as your Dad does- I don't think you'll have a choice!

Around 6:15 you finally woke up- your schedule was already completely shot.  But that's what vacation and grandparents' houses are for :) I feed you your dinner and we watch TV while everyone is outside.

7:00 we all hang out on the deck and the men get cleaned up from their day of work.  They made great progress taking the deck off the house and tearing off all the old siding on the side and back of the house.

We set up props to take your pictures in Abuela's flowers.  She has pictures of all the grandkids in this same spot.

We of course have to get a picture of our family of 5 on your first 4th of July.

We all eat dinner at 8:00 while you hang out.  Then I feed you your late dinner at 8:30.  At 9:00 we all load up and head outside of town for the GB fireworks show.  We waited about an hour for the show to start so Abuela played with you and you hammed it up for all of us.

We all wondered how you would do with the loud booms from the fireworks but you took it like a champ and they actually didn't scare you.  We could see your little eyes follow and watch the fireworks light up the sky.  I tried to take a picture of you watching them but my flash ended up making you look terrified.  You weren't scared but we thought the picture was pretty funny.

The show got even more exciting when the falling embers caught the nearby fields on fire.  There were 3 fires total but the fire crew was ready and quickly got them out.

About halfway through the show you fell asleep in Abuela's arms.  She had you all wrapped up in your blanket which we kept on you when we put you in your carseat to leave.  You looked like you were wearing a bonnet or a cloak or something.

We got back to the house around 10:40 but the 4th of July was far from over... we had to do our own show!  Abuelo, Abuela, and you sat in lawnchairs at the edge of the driveway while Dad set off the majority of the fireworks.  I set off a few myself that I had picked out at the firework store that day.  The best one of the night was a fountain I chose because its name was "Keg Party".  Best $3 fountain I've ever bought, no lie.  We really wished we would've saved it for the finale it was so good.

Dad almost had a mishap that involved a blooming flower flying into you guys in your lawn chairs.  He lit it, threw it, and the wind caught it and carried it right above you guys sitting down.  Thank goodness Abuela covered you up in her lap and Abuelo hopped up to bat it out of the way.  Dad definitely got a stern look from Mom on that one!

We bought sparklers this year specifically so that we could figure out how to set my camera to capture sparkler writing of your name.  After a few tries we got it down!

Abuela did this one.

Abuelo's creation- I'll let him tell you what this one is ;)

Dad said he couldn't do backwards cursive so he went with a star.
