31 Weeks

31 Weeks: Baby O is the weight of 4 naval oranges.
He weighs 3.3 pounds and is over 16 inches long.  This week he is heading into a growth spurt and is plumping out as fat accumulates underneath the skin.  Love me some fat babies!!

How far along? 31 Weeks
Total weight gain?  22 pounds, down 2 pounds from last week, weird.
Maternity clothes? Mix of maternity and normal clothes
Stretch marks? None as of yet... cross those fingers!
Sleep? Was actually better this last week- even slept in till 9:45 on Sunday!
Best moment this week? The gorgeous January weather was definitely a highlight of the week- 70 degrees in January?!?  We also bought a new ride for Baby O- Trent is saying adios to the Danger Ranger and hello to the new girl.
Miss anything? Didn't miss anything this week.
Food cravings? Nothing new this week.
Anything making you queasy/sick? Not a thing
Gender? Little man :)
Labor Signs? None this last week.  Dr. Rita will be glad to hear that tomorrow at our bi-weekly appointment.
Symptoms? Really don't want to jinx myself here but... I only had heartburn like 4 of the last 7 days!!  I'll take it :)
Belly button in or out? Just in the last couple days it has started puffing out every now and then throughout the day.  But it's weird cause it'll be kinda puffy one minute then back to flat the next- might be related to his position??
Wedding rings on or off? Still on and easily able to pull off.
Happy or moody? Exhilarated!!!  On Friday it'll only be 2 months out... say what?!? I canNOT believe this weekend is the start of February.  Holy cow.
Looking forward to? Completing the nursery (still) and going in for our doctor appointment tomorrow night to hear him!  2 weeks ago his heartbeat was still perfect and in the 140's.
Daddy moment?   It's an old one but a favorite- having Trent rub and poke my belly to feel "his little man" kick just makes me melt. Cheesy but true :) Also my new favorite Trent quote while watching "The Bachelor" with me: "You always want to be the last one in the limo so you can be the first one out."  So wise, Trenton, so wise.

The new ride for our expanding fam.  Trent still hasn't named her yet though.  We need something that matches my car "Ellie Edge" and still fits his truck..  Much to my disappointment he quickly shot me down when I was all for "Willa Ford." Helloooo... that's funny.  Remember her one hit wonder circa 2002, "I Wanna Be Bad"?  I thought it was perfect, but Trent not so much.  Boo...

30 Weeks

30 Weeks: Baby O is the weight of a head of cabbage
He weighs almost 3 pounds and is 15.7 inches long.  This week his eyesight continues to develop even though it's not very keen.
*MLK day means no work... which means no getting ready and PJs all day for Kala... forgive the picture quality :) I doubt Baby O will care haha.

How far along? 30 Weeks- the thirties!!!!
Total weight gain?  24 pounds
Maternity clothes? Mix of maternity and normal clothes
Stretch marks? None as of yet... cross those fingers!
Sleep? These days I go to bed early and rise and shine early. Complete opposite of my normal self- he must be training me for what newborn life is like!
Best moment this week? In no particular order- LOTS of nursery projects and craft projects checked off the to do list.  My new Project Life kit arrived and I did some scrapbooking. I had a 3 day weekend since it was MLK day today.  I did my first load of baby laundry and OMG loved pulling out all the teeny baby boy outfits.  Looked so weird sitting in our laundry basket since I'm not used to that *yet*.  I'm sure the newness and fun of baby laundry will wear off quickly once he arrives and throws up/poops on every other outfit. Lastly, spending all day today with my BFF for her birthday- Baby O even gave her a happy birthday kick :)
Miss anything? I had a long day at work last week and a Corona on the deck sounded so nice.  I'm ready for spring/summer to enjoy being off with my little man!
Food cravings? Nothing new this week.
Anything making you queasy/sick? Not a thing
Gender? Little man :)
Labor Signs? My doctor confirmed that I've had 2 instances of Braxton Hicks.  Nothing too bad or serious but she did worry me when she started talking about timing/tracking them/going to ER/calling her if they get to a certain number.  Holy cow.  Stay put and bake some more Baby O!
Symptoms? The two usuals- heartburn and back pain.
Belly button in or out? Flat as a board.
Wedding rings on or off? On- although every time I take a shower I check just to make sure they still come off so they don't have to be cut off.
Happy or moody? HAPPY that this is going so fast... it's also becoming more real that in 2ish months we'll get to meet him!
Looking forward to? Completing the nursery & baby showers in a little over a month!
Daddy moment?   Trent has been a working machine helping me with stuff for the baby's room.  So lucky that I have a husband who wants to be involved in making/picking out everything.  I'm also lucky that we pretty much have identical taste so when I describe what I'm thinking or picturing he's always on board.  Although... he did have his first pregnancy meltdown over working on the baby's monogram for over the crib.  The perfectionist in Trent had enough and he threw in the towel after a mishap.  This time it was the preggo wife that got to calm him down.  Even though he claims he didn't throw a fit... and he says the dads can't have meltdowns haha.

One of the nursery projects I finished up this last week- dividers for his closet.  I got the idea off of pinterest but went down the chalkboard paint route instead of numbers mod podged on like all the other ones I saw.  I liked that with the chalkboard tops I could rewrite and relabel as needed instead of being stuck with a divider that would forever and always be for newborn clothes only. Labeling= happy mommy!

Shortly after announcing Baby O's arrival, Trent's mom made me this scrapbook to document the pregnancy in.  She knew we wanted a navy nursery no matter what the gender would be so that's why the book was already blue.  If it had been a girl I would've went back and added some pink stickers to girly it up :) After debating how I wanted to use the book I decided to put all my blog posts into the monthly dividers so he can someday read about each week of my pregnancy with him.  That way all this time I put into this blog isn't for nothing in case it suddenly disappears someday!

The first card in each month is a quick recap of what we did that month.  Then behind that is a card per week of the pregnancy.  The front of each card holds the weekly belly picture and the date it was taken.  The back of the card contains every blog post I wrote up of the weekly questions- shrunk down to a very small font size 7.  I love how it turned out and am very thankful Lora made us such a cool gift!

29 Weeks

29 Weeks: Baby O is the weight of a butternut squash
He weighs 2.5 pounds and is a tad over 15 inches long head to toe.  This week his lungs and muscles are continuing to mature and his head is growing bigger for his developing brain.
*It looks like I have red/purple highlights in the top of my hair but the setting sun did something weird to my hair this week- no new color to report!

How far along? 29 Weeks... bye bye to the 20s!
Total weight gain? 23 pounds
Maternity clothes? Still just in pants but my first oldnavy.com order just arrived when I got home from work tonight, yay!  I got 7 tops and 1 new pair of skinnies for $88 thanks to a 30% off coupon last week!!!  I refuse to pay full price on these maternity clothes I'll only wear for a few more months!
Stretch marks? None right now
Sleep? Ehhh. I wake up everytime I need to move onto a different side.  This side sleeping is already getting old and we still have 11 more weeks.  What I wouldn't give to sleep on my back or tummy right now!
Best moment this week? We only worked 4 days last week even though it was our first week back.  We each took the day off on Friday for my glucose test (really not as bad as people said), to visit my grandpa in Yates Center, and then head back to Great Bend so Trent could help tile a bathroom for his parents.  As crazy as it sounds... it was our last trip to GB without the baby.  NUTS!!
Miss anything? Sleeping on my tummy or back.
Food cravings? Nothing new this week.
Anything making you queasy/sick? Not a thing
Gender? Little man :)
Labor Signs? Nope, thank goodness!
Symptoms? The two usuals- heartburn and back pain.
Belly button in or out? Still barely in- it's hanging on as long as it can.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody? I officially had my first meltdown last Wednesday and as embarrassing as it was, I promised myself to document everything so I wouldn't forget...  That night, I had just gotten out of the shower and was putting lotion on when I saw a varicose/spider vein on my calf.  My baby center app had mentioned that could happen, especially to people who are on their feet all day at work like I am, but I must've been in denial that I would get them.  I tried not getting worked up about it but Trent saying, "It's no big deal, that's just part of it" pushed me off the meltdown ledge.  I went downstairs to try and hide being upset but it did no good.  Trent could hear me crying and came down to this scene- on the couch, in my robe, fuzzy slippers, wet hair in a towel, bowl of ice cream in hand, laptop on lap, sobbing. All he get out of me was an incoherent sentence he claims went like this: "Old Navy... chocolate... sale... fat... order tonight... can't stop.. ugly... 30%."  How the poor guy didn't burst out laughing immediately is beyond me.  Somehow, he consoled me, told me to take my time online shopping, and probably went and laughed in private.  It really is like people say!  I know I sounded crazy/irrational/melodramatic... but I just couldn't stop crying.  Let's hope that doesn't happen again- other than that night I've been my normal self :)
Looking forward to? The fabric for the nursery came in this last week and I'm so excited for my mom to make the curtains and for Lora to make the bedding!!!
Daddy moment?   Gotta give the guy props for handling his first preggo wife meltdown.  Glad both him and I can laugh about it now!

28 Weeks- 3rd Trimester!

28 Weeks: Baby O is the weight of a Chinese cabbage
He weighs 2 1/4 pounds and is 14.8 inches long.  This week little man can blink his eyes and now has eyelashes. He can see light through the womb, is developing billions of neurons in his brain, and is adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world!

How far along? 28 Weeks/7 Months/3rd Trimester!!!
Total weight gain? 22 pounds
Maternity clothes? Still just in pants
Stretch marks? None right now
Sleep? I tossed and turned a lot this last week :(  I also had to sleep two nights in the guest room cause Trenton had the flu BAD and wanted me to stay away from his germs.
Best moment this week? So many to pick from- we had our NYE party, we went and picked out the carseat/stroller thanks to Grandma Geneva's generous gift, we did some nursery projects (forgot to take pics so I'll do that next week), and I started Baby O's scrapbook with my new Project Life kit.  But the best moment of the week was last night in bed when Trent and the baby were high fiving back and forth.  Trent had his hand on my stomach like normal, feeling him wiggling around before bed.  But on one of his kicks, Trent pushed back and Baby O started pushing back like crazy to him.  It startled us both so much since that hadn't happened before- and it was a completely different sensation.  They kept at it and Trent just lit up- his first father/son high fives.  I melted :)
Miss anything? Nothing!
Food cravings? Nothing new this week.
Anything making you queasy/sick? Not a thing
Gender? Little man :)
Labor Signs? Nope, thank goodness!
Symptoms? Heartburn sucks and my back now hurts randomly throughout the day, but especially at night.
Belly button in or out? Still barely in- it's hanging on as long as it can.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody? Still no mood swings, just overall full of joy!  I still don't feel like I have the crazy pregnancy hormones yet- I just feel like normal Kala.  Do they come out later for some women?
Looking forward to? Is it sad if I'm super excited for Sean's season of The Bachelor that starts tonight?!
Daddy moment?   The daddy/son high fives definitely tops his list this week.  He's also been busy building Baby O a bookcase. Typical Trent always has something he's working on!

Our last NYE ever as just the 4 of us!

With Jess... and our 1 week apart bumps of Baby girl Carlson and Baby boy O :)

Trent was the real entertainment of the night this year at the party, especially when him and Searle got into a champagne spray war.  I stole this picture from Jess and she put it best, "no words necessary."  And for those of you who really know Trent...
1. Yes, his garage was super sticky the next day- floor, wall, cabinets, tool boxes, everything.
2. Yes, he asked what the heck happened and had to be reminded the next day it was all his doing hahaha.

The party gang this year- but we missed everybody who couldn't make it due to sickness and weather!

When I scrapbook, the dogs spend 99% of their day with me.  Harlee is in the chair... but can you spot Bentley?  I swear he's in there.  It's like a Where's Waldo?

Trent and I also learned he's small enough to fit inside of Trent's outside/work boots.

These two really are BFFs.  I spotted them snuggling and had to sneak a pic.

Bentley caught me though and woke up.  Love those dogs!

For the third year in a row our family has decided to choose one word to live by for the year instead of making resolutions.  The theory is that you pick a word to apply to all aspects of your life, not just a single resolution.  I wrote more about it in these posts from here and here.
My past words have been Active in 2011 and Create in 2012.  Bet no one knew the real reason why I chose Create last year- to create a baby :) fooled everybody on that one!  This year I chose Embrace.  I thought of that word months ago but felt like another one might change my mind, but it never changed.  I picked it because...
- I want to embrace every single second of the last 12 weeks I have of hogging my little man in my tummy.  Selfish?  Yes.  But I have enjoyed almost every single second of being pregnant.  Me and the baby boy are a package deal right now and I love that every experience/feeling/movement is like a private conversation shared between just the two of us.  I'm sure I'll miss all his kicks and flutters when he makes his debut, but his appearance will more than make up for it!
-I plan to embrace these last 12 weeks of just Trent and I.  We've enjoyed it being just the two of us these last 6 years of being together... and I know that we're so thankful we waited to start a family because of all the T&K time we had first.
-I want to embrace every precious fleeting second once Baby O arrives.  Everyone tells you to enjoy every second because it will fly by and I know they are absolutely right.  I want to slow down and cherish every day and milestone we'll have together.  Work, social media, house chores, etc. will take a backseat for once in my life after that baby boy is here.
-I want to embrace all the changes... good and bad, big and small... that will impact our family in these next 12 months.  2013... I know you'll be our best year yet!

Trent's past words have been Inventive in 2011 and Motivation in 2012.  This year he really wanted to use the word Re-Invent... until I reminded him of his 2011 word haha.  Instead we brainstormed together a list of words similar to it that he could choose from.  He went with Adjust since 2013 is sure to be a year of adjustments to life as we know it!
