A Day in Cole's Life @ 3 Months

Happy 3 months to you Cole Man!  Here's what your 3 month birthday looked like on July 4, 2013.

We got into Great Bend the night before and you hoot-owled until 11 pm.  Luckily, Abuela had her pack-n-play all set up and ready for you to crash out in her scrapbook room.  We started hearing you fuss a little after 7 and came to check on you.  You had rotated 90 degress like usual and had also houdini-ed your way out of your swaddler.

We got you up to change your booty and start your morning feeding in bed with me while Dad headed outside with Abuelo to start their house siding project.  Around 8ish both you and Mom went back to sleep.

At 9 we both woke up for the day and headed outside to check on the men and their project. They are slaving away and then make a Sutherland's run.  Then GGG arrives to see you.  I hand you off to her and get myself ready for the day.

Once I'm ready I get your clothes set out for the day and one of your grandmas dresses you in one of your new 4th of July outfits. At 10:45 you are ready to eat again so we hang out and watch some TV while you eat.

By 11:20 you've finished your lunch and Abuela takes you for cuddles. Around 11:45 Aunt Angie and the boys arrive and Angie gives you a bag FULL of cute new outfits for you to wear. I also get my birthday present a bit early- it's the adult version of a sippy cup for "adult juice" ;)

Dad and Abuelo take a break from their siding project around noon so me, Dad, Angie, and all the boys head to the firework stand.  Right after we leave you decide to throw up on GGG when Abuela is handing you over- right down her shirt. Then you decide it's naptime with GGG..

The firework place in GB is HUGE and it's crazy packed.  Dad is like a kid in a candy store and we spend around $35 on lots of fun stuff for later tonight!  Not too bad considering your Dad wanted one of everything.  He can't wait until you both get to blow stuff up together when you are older.

We get home a little after 12:30 and have lunch.  Abuelo grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and your grandmas put together a huge spread of delicious food.  You're still sleeping with GGG and don't mind the lunch commotion.

After we all finish lunch we head outside so the boys can start the firework fun.  Dad, cousins Jeramie, Jordan, Joshua, and their friend Derek all enjoy fireworks like typical boys.  All I know is their fun included duct tape, storm drains, water, and who knows what else they thought up.

GGG tries to bring you out to enjoy the firework but one of the really loud booms scares you so she takes you back inside.  Notice your 4th of July bib from Angie?  Thank goodness she got that for you cause you really needed it- you were having a very drooly day.

We all enjoy sitting outside watching the boys.  It's actually a very pretty July afternoon- out of the ordinary for hot and windy GB!

We're not quite sure who was having more fun with the fireworks- your cousins or your Dad.

Around 2 you decide you're hungry again but fall asleep after feeding for awhile.  I try laying you down but you wake back up after 5 minutes and are happy and playful so I take you back outside.  This time the fireworks aren't bothering you. You hang out with cousin Jeramie after he made you some smoke bomb art on the sidewalk.  We of course have to take your picture with it... it's just like Jeryn's pics from her first 4th of July.

A little after 3 we all head inside for Jordan's birthday celebration.  He's a firecracker baby and has a 4th birthday like you- but yours is April and his is July.

Angie and the boys head back home and around 3:30 you fall asleep with Abuela.  I go to our bedroom to take some allergy medicine for my horrible chigger bites and while browsing on my phone accidentally fall asleep.  I end up falling asleep from 4-5:30 and it felt awesome.  Mommy needs naps sometimes too I guess.  While we're all napping, Daddy and Abuelo start re-siding the house again.

Dad got a new toolbelt that weekend and is obsessed with it.  He only raved about it a few times ;)  Hopefully you'll like tools and projects as much as your Dad does- I don't think you'll have a choice!

Around 6:15 you finally woke up- your schedule was already completely shot.  But that's what vacation and grandparents' houses are for :) I feed you your dinner and we watch TV while everyone is outside.

7:00 we all hang out on the deck and the men get cleaned up from their day of work.  They made great progress taking the deck off the house and tearing off all the old siding on the side and back of the house.

We set up props to take your pictures in Abuela's flowers.  She has pictures of all the grandkids in this same spot.

We of course have to get a picture of our family of 5 on your first 4th of July.

We all eat dinner at 8:00 while you hang out.  Then I feed you your late dinner at 8:30.  At 9:00 we all load up and head outside of town for the GB fireworks show.  We waited about an hour for the show to start so Abuela played with you and you hammed it up for all of us.

We all wondered how you would do with the loud booms from the fireworks but you took it like a champ and they actually didn't scare you.  We could see your little eyes follow and watch the fireworks light up the sky.  I tried to take a picture of you watching them but my flash ended up making you look terrified.  You weren't scared but we thought the picture was pretty funny.

The show got even more exciting when the falling embers caught the nearby fields on fire.  There were 3 fires total but the fire crew was ready and quickly got them out.

About halfway through the show you fell asleep in Abuela's arms.  She had you all wrapped up in your blanket which we kept on you when we put you in your carseat to leave.  You looked like you were wearing a bonnet or a cloak or something.

We got back to the house around 10:40 but the 4th of July was far from over... we had to do our own show!  Abuelo, Abuela, and you sat in lawnchairs at the edge of the driveway while Dad set off the majority of the fireworks.  I set off a few myself that I had picked out at the firework store that day.  The best one of the night was a fountain I chose because its name was "Keg Party".  Best $3 fountain I've ever bought, no lie.  We really wished we would've saved it for the finale it was so good.

Dad almost had a mishap that involved a blooming flower flying into you guys in your lawn chairs.  He lit it, threw it, and the wind caught it and carried it right above you guys sitting down.  Thank goodness Abuela covered you up in her lap and Abuelo hopped up to bat it out of the way.  Dad definitely got a stern look from Mom on that one!

We bought sparklers this year specifically so that we could figure out how to set my camera to capture sparkler writing of your name.  After a few tries we got it down!

Abuela did this one.

Abuelo's creation- I'll let him tell you what this one is ;)

Dad said he couldn't do backwards cursive so he went with a star.

After a fun-filled day we all headed back inside and headed to bed a little after midnight.  I'm pretty sure you had a wonderful first 4th of July thanks to your grandparents showing you a great GB 4th!

Cole 3 months

Where oh where has this time gone?!?  Seriously. Little man, your first year is 25% finished already and that blows my mind.  You are the sweetest, happiest, most entertaining little person and we're so lucky to have you.  We find it hard to remember what life was like before you because you are the center of our world.  Happy 3 months baby boy!

Height: 24.5 inches
Weight: 15.4 pounds
Head: 17 inches
*no percentile because no dr. appt this month

Diapers: In the size 2s now... making momma sad :(

Clothes: 3 months and 3-6 months in clothes and pj's, medium in swaddlers and sleep sacks.

Food: You eat for about 30 minutes every 3 hours during the day and will sleep through the night without having to be fed.  I still love nursing with you- it's such a special time between us that I wouldn't trade for anything.  We are so grateful that you are able to breastfeed.  I know it's not for everyone and some women aren't able to... but for us it's going wonderful.  At our 2 month appointment Dr. Rita said to feel free to start giving you rice cereal at about 3 1/2 months.  Dad's excited about it whereas I'm on the fence.  I love seeing you do new things but that also means that you're growing up too fast for me!  Stop it mister!

Sleep: We are so thankful and blessed that you have slept through the night since you were about a month old. You go down around 9 pm and will wake up between 7-8 am.  Your morning nap is around 9:30 and it's usually just 45 min-1 hour.  I usually take this nap with you holding you either on the couch or bringing you back into me and Dad's bed.  I love the cuddle time. Your afternoon nap is anywhere from 1-2 o'clock and it normally lasts a couple hours.  This last week we started trying to see how you did with sleep sacks instead of swaddlers since you are such a mover in the swaddler. You are still moving ALL the time in your sleep and it's always counterclockwise.  We bought a pool noodle and put it under your crib sheet to use as a "bumper" to try and prevent you from rotating.  Now you just shimmy down the noodle but at least you're not banging your head into the crib rails. Right now you just wear the sleep sack for naps and we still swaddle you at night.  You sleep much better all snug in your swaddler so we don't want to take it away from you just yet.

Milestones and Firsts:
-Can sit propped up and observe what's going on around the room.  You prefer sitting up instead of being held like a baby now so that you can watch things :(
-Started sleeping in sleep sacks
-Your first time being left by both Mom and Dad so we could have a date night at the Kenny Chesney concert.  You had so much fun with your cousin Jeryn, Aunt Ashley, and Uncle Jerad.
-You set off your first Chinese lanterns- a surprise we did with the Olivier side of your family for Dad's 30th birthday.
-You had your first "man night" with Dad so that Mom could go to a friend's bachelorette party.  You guys hit up Lowe's and Walmart, visited some neighbors, took a bath, and went to bed.  Glad both of my boys had fun although I hated being away from you!
-We celebrated Dad's first Father's Day with doughnuts in bed, Deanna Rose Farmstead, New York Dawg Pound for lunch, and shopping at Home Depot and Lowe's.
-Grabbing all sorts of things- toys, blankets, hair, necklaces, etc.  Dad loves that he can now hand you a toy and you'll wave it back and forth... and then put it in your mouth.
-You now drool like a dog and blow bubbles.  Some outfits only last a few hours before you soak through them and it's time for a wardrobe change. No teeth or anything yet... just a lot of drool.
-Your arm hair and leg hair came in this last month- very blonde and very hard to see. Your eyelashes also got longer and your eyebrows darkened up just a smidge.

Likes:
-You love when we do airplane- whether it's doing it with you on our shins or holding you in the sky to bench press you.  You think it's especially funny when we hit "turbulence."
-Standing up.  My word that's all you want to do.  If you have a surface to stand on and then bounce yourself up and down you will.  That's the only way you'll burp now too which makes it really fun when your spit up becomes a stream and you nail whatever is in your path- usually me.
-You became SO ticklish this last month.  Your most ticklish spots are under your chin, your belly, and your armpits.  We love love love tickling you because it brings out your cute little chuckles. -"This Little Piggy" on your toes makes you cackle and belly laugh like none other.  It's my favorite way to get you laughing.
-Talking up a storm with your sounds, coos, and squeals.  You are a vocal little guy, especially in the mornings.
-Your two favorite songs are the cups song from Pitch Perfect and Darius Rucker's wagon wheel song.  Those two calm you down better than any other ones we sing.
-Dancing in our laps.  Your go to moves right now that you enjoy the most would be the fist pump and the twist.  We do those ones for you.  The only move you have down on your own is the stomp.
-Splashing in the bathtub really increased this last month.  We have been bathing you in the infant tub on the kitchen counter by the sink but here lately you have been kicking and flailing like crazy and sending water everywhere.  Pretty sure your kitchen bath days are about over.
-You really loved your hands this month.  You'd watch them while you were holding something and then drop that object to put them in your mouth.  You try hard as you can to put them both in your mouth but it just doesn't work out so you usually just gnaw on your thumb and pointer finger.  You just gnaw on them though, you don't really suck on them.

Dislikes:
-You HATE not being fed on time and have no patience when it's chowtime.  You no longer have a cute newborn cry- it's a very demanding/ticked off cry that let's us know you mean business.  You have two cries- a tired one and a hungry one.  The hungry cry is the one that turns you red in the face and makes you gag yourself cause you're crying so hard.  You'll plant your feet, lift yourself up and arch your back while screaming. We think it's kinda funny cause you are instantly fine when you start to eat like all has been forgotten :)
-You are over the bouncy seat.  I can't remember the last time you actually sat in it without crying.  Definitely not where you like to hang out.
-The car not moving.  We could literally stop at a stop sign for only three seconds and you instantly cry when we stop and are fine the second we move.

Mom's Favorite Moments:
It's a tie between two this month.
1. During our nursing sessions you will stop eating, lean back, and give me the biggest, sweetest, gummiest grins in the world.  We'll just lock eyes and smile at one another.  Then you pick right back up and continue eating.  It is the sweetest look that instantly makes me melt and feel like your most favorite person.
2. Being able to tickle you and get those first deep belly laughs was awesome.  So far I'm the one that can get you to giggle the most but I'm sure Dad will eventually take over in that category.  Dads are always the best ticklers!

Dad's Favorite Moments (in Dad's words):
For this month I loved the fact that we got our first father-son trip into Lowe's. I know to some people it wouldn't be a big deal, but if you know me I live in Lowe's and Home Depot. I have a feeling we will be making many many many more trips into the hardware stores. Your Mom has seen all the pictures of Grandpa and I when I was a kid working along side of him. Cole, hopefully we can make these same memories from when I was growing up, and this first trip to Lowe's only starts it off on the right foot.

Dear July

Dear July,

Normally you and I are BFFs. I've always looked forward to your arrival- 4th of July, my birthday, our anniversary, summer fun, etc. But this year is a completely different story.  This year your arrival means it's my last month at home with my sweet boy.  Yes, yes... I know I've been fortunate to have April, May, June, and now July with Cole Man.  But I'd really appreciate it if you could just slow time down and we'll skip back to June.  Ok?  And one more thing... you can tell August she's dead to me and we'd rather not see her this year. Thanks for your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Kala and Cole

PS- Shantel, I hope this small post will do until his monthly update ;)

Cole 2 months

Height: 23.75 inches, 90%
Weight: 13.6 pounds, 95%
Head: 16.25 inches, didn't tell us %
Diapers: Size 1- we just bought a giant box of 234 from diapers.com so you'd better stay in 1's for awhile buddy!  We've figured out we like Pampers best too.  We tried some other brands that were gifts, but Pampers seem to prevent the most blow-outs for you.  And your blow outs aren't pretty.

Clothes: 0-3 months and 3 month outfits.  We've still been using the size small swaddlers but realized that they were getting stretched out and you were pulling them below your shoulders.  So onto the next size in swaddlers too.

Food: You're a boob guy!  You LOVE to eat and are such a good eater too.  During the day you are still eating pretty much every 3 hours.  Some days it's like clockwork.  Right now your last feeding starts between 8:30-9:30 and you'll eat for about 45 minutes.  Then you'll sleep until between 5-6 am before you're hungry again. We haven't been doing bottles as frequently cause I love nursing with you.  We've noticed sometimes you'll fight the bottle and a lot goes to waste so I guess we should probably do bottles at least once a day so that you are still used to taking one.

Sleep: Right now you'll wake up anywhere between 5-6 am most mornings.  Dad changes you, I nurse you in bed then you fall back asleep until 7-8ish.  On rainy days it's been 10 am!!  You'll have a short mid morning nap which lasts about an hour.  Your afternoon naps last 2-3 hours and your evening nap is usually just an hour or so.  Bedtime is anywhere between 9-10 pm depending on when you started nursing.  You usually fall asleep nursing so we put you down while you are full and drowsy and you usually don't fuss much.  Thank you for being a good sleeper :)

Milestones:
-Pro at holding up your neck and head- that's all you do these days.  You already sit on our laps and hold your head up and just look all around you.  You prefer to face out when we hold you so you can observe.
-Tracking from across the room now.  It's so cool to see Dad come in the door after work and you spot him or watch me as I walk into a room to get you.  You even track your fur siblings because let me tell you... they are crazy.
-Grabbing things like crazy.
-Carrying on a "conversation" with us.  Your noises and cute little faces just melt my heart.  We'll have 5 minute conversations and I swear you know what I'm saying.  You are trying to mimic our mouths sometimes and we like to think we've heard actual words.  These so called "words" include: no, ya, ohhh, yum (said while eating I kid you not), hey, hi, and huh.  The huh one had us cracking up cause it fit the conversation perfectly.
-The biggest one of the month... rolling over from tummy to back!!!  It literally happened over night.  One day you were just doing tummy time like normal and the next you're flipping over.  We were shocked.  Even more shocking is somehow by the grace of God I was even video recording it too.  Your first roll... on video.  Pretty flipping cool.  Don't worry we put it on youtube so the world can see your amazing talents.  And by world I mean your obsessed family.  You do it all the time now and I feel bad cause it sounds like I'm training a dog.... "Come on Cole, roll over, you can do it, roll over, etc." You poor thing having to constantly perform like that.  Get used to it ;)

  Likes:
-Still majorly obsessed with fans.  I don't know what's so funny about them but man can they get you going.
-Pulling Mom's hair.  Ouch buddy.
-Swings- whether it's your baby swing or the patio swing you find it so relaxing.
-Pacis- the verdict is still out on this one whether you're gonna be a paci baby or not.  You love them when they are in your mouth... you just can't seem to get it to stay there.  You seem fine without getting it that often so we're not pushing it too hard.  Based off advice from friends we'd actually prefer you not take one.  Just one less thing to take away from you later on.  But Cole gets what Cole wants so we'll see how this next month goes.
-Going to sleep getting rocked or having your booty patted.  Your eyes get heavy right away.
-Car rides

Dislikes:
-Harlee's bark- she has a very piercing bark that can make grown men jump so don't feel bad that you cry after she starts barking.  If she doesn't get better about it she's not going to like the bark collar...
-Hiccups- you have some violent ones that shake your whole body and you act distraught.
-Paci falling out- it's a love/hate relationship.  See above.

Mom's Favorite Moments:
Your smiles and laughs this month make me feel like the most special person in the world.  They are real laughs and smiles, not just accidental ones. I love that you'll light up when you see my face and hear my voice in the morning.  Our family gets a lot of texts from your happy faces- especially in the mornings when you are in your happiest moods.  Seeing you so full of joy fills my heart with so much love for you sweet boy.  How is it that every day I think I love you more than the day before?  You are so loved Cole Michael!

Dad's Favorite Moments (in Dad's words):
I would have to say Memorial Day weekend has to be my favorite of the month. Not only was it your first long road trip back to Great Bend, but it was the first time you got to meet the rest of your family- Uncle Mike, cousins Jeramie and Jordan, as well as Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Olivier. But I'd have to say the best part of the whole weekend was being able to create a 4 generation picture with Great Grandpa Bob being 90 years old, Grandpa Bob being 60 years old, me being 30 years old and you not being 1 yet. We kept our Olivier tradition alive with 30 years in between each generation. Maybe someday you can keep that tradition alive as well.

A Day in Cole's Life @ 2 Months

One of my favorite bloggers Katie Bower (I don't know her personally) did a "Day in the Life" post the other day and I loved the idea of doing one each month for Cole's first year to show how our days changed with his development.  If only this bright idea popped up a month ago... oh well!  At least we'll have months 2-12 :)

Cole this is what your beautiful life looked like when you were 2 months old on Tuesday, June 4, 2013...

5:00 am- You start fussing in your sleep so we check the video monitor.  As usual you have rotated 90 degrees and the top of your head is ramming into the bars of your crib.  Dad gets up to move you and you instantly go back to sleep.

6:00 am- Mom's alarm goes off for the first time in months... I haven't set one in a really long time but today we have your 2 month doctor appointment at 7:30. I end up rolling out of bed at 6:06 and start getting ready.

6:15 am- Dad gets a phone call at 6:15 and I come out of the bathroom to see who was calling that early.  Stupid number he didn't know hung up on him.  Who does that?!

6:22 am- I'm finished getting ready so I head in to wake you up. We put you down a little before 10 last night and you never woke up... I'm so thankful that you can sleep through the night you precious boy :)  I know they say "never wake a sleeping baby" and I really don't want to but I know you need to eat.

6:25 am- I bring you back to our bed to eat. I set you down for one minute to get situated to nurse and you instantly start crying with your "give me a boob sandwich!!" cry. Once you latch on you're as happy as can be.  The whole family hangs out while you eat- both Dad and I are checking emails on our phone while your fur brother Bentley is giving Harlee a bath.  It's kinda their morning ritual.

6:40 am- Dad gets up to get ready and I try to burp you.  Instead I get spit up all over my pillow.  Thanks.  I take off the pillowcase, you laugh at the ceiling fan and then latch on the other side.

6:55 am- I change your diaper, get you dressed for the day and Dad lets the dogs out.

7:00 am- Dad grabs a breakfast of the chocolate peanut butter bars I made this weekend. I grab some yogurt and chocolate covered strawberries and put the furbabies in their kennel.

7:05 am- Dad puts you in the truck with me and he gets in the Edge.  We have to drive separate since he's going to work after the appointment.

7:25 am- we check in at the dr appointment and they send us to the back for the infant area.  I love that they do this to keep you out of the germy waiting room.

7:40 am- We don't have a long wait at all- they do your well child check up with all the usuals.  Then the part I was dreading... your shots. Dad helped hold your arms down since you're so grabby and 2 nurses had your legs- so that each nurse could give you a shot. So far you're not upset and I'm stroking your hair talking to you.  Once they jab you though you instantly start wailing and get all red in the face, which makes me start tearing up.  Nurse Kim jabs you one more time and they stick the band-aids on you.  As soon as that's done I grab you up and cuddle you and you stop crying right away.  Dad says I didn't waste anytime snatching you back... why would I?! You look at the nurses with a look of "What the heck did you people just do to me?!" I'm proud of both of us- minimal tears from both baby and mom.

8:35 am- Dad loads you up, gives kisses, and heads to work.  You and I head on home.

8:55 am- Since the rain hasn't moved in yet I decide to go on a walk right away.  You don't seem to mind- you've been sleeping ever since we left the doctor's office.

9:05 am- While walking by our neighborhood pool I noticed that the pine trees have piles of pinecones underneath.  I remember a craft idea I saw on pinterest for Christmas time so I grab some until you start fussing in the stroller.  I'm sure your Dad will be thrilled for the paint/glitter vision I have in mind :)

9:20 am- I make it a short walk since the clouds are moving in and I don't want us getting wet.  We unload the truck and head inside.  I put you in your swing since you're still drowsy and let your fur siblings out.

9:30 am- I go outside with Bentley and Harlee to check on our flowers to see the newest blooms.  I take some pictures that Dad requested.

9:40 am- Just like clockwork you start getting hungry.  I grab myself a snack of some Wheat Thins and start nursing you.  I play on my phone while you eat checking facebook, pinterest, instagram, etc.  I can tell it's going to be a longer nursing session cause you're sleepy so I turn on the DVR and watch the first episode of this season's Real Housewives of New Jersey. If you ever bring a girl home like the ones on my shows you are going to be majorly grounded mister!  It's great entertainment... but it's not meant for real life!

10:30 am- You seem full and happy so I take you upstairs and put you on a blanket in the living room to stare at the fan- your favorite activity. At first you seem uninterested, but 30 seconds later and you're talking/laughing with delight.

10:35 am- Since you're happy as a clam I head to the kitchen to do the dishes and then finish using the rest of our strawberries.  We went out to the strawberry patch on Sunday and picked a couple pounds of strawberries.  We already made and devoured the chocolate covered strawberries so I decided to finish the rest with white chocolate this time.

11:00 You're starting to fuss and your babysitting siblings come check on you for me.  They sure love you!

11:05 am- We go upstairs to change your diaper and you decide to pee on us right as I get the fresh diaper under your booty.  And I was JUST bragging to the doctor how you usually pee on Dad!  Guess you wanted to put me back in my place, huh? You peed on your shirt and the changing pad so we put on shirt #2, change the pad cover, and head downstairs for some cuddle time before your mid day nap.  I finish watching the crazy housewives show and you fall asleep in my arms- makes me so happy :)

11:35 am- A noise wakes you up and I can tell you're in the "I'm tired and just want to sleep" crying stage. I take you upstairs, swaddle you, rock you for a minute, and you're asleep in your crib by 11:43. Such a champ!

11:45 am- I grab the video monitor and make myself lunch- a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, peach fruit cup, and the white chocolate covered strawberries from earlier.  Easy and yummy.

12:00 pm- I head upstairs to the office for my computer time.  I read my favorite house blogs and craft blogs for 20ish minutes.  Then I download pictures off the camera and my phone for the last week, sort through and delete the bad ones, then organize them all into the appropriate picture folders.

1:00 pm- I check on you and you're still out like a light. I start writing this post and uploading all the pics I've taken so far.

2:00 I finish this blog post as far as I can and you're still sleeping.  I miss you and want you to wake up but I let you sleep :)  I think about finding pics/writing your 2 month blog post but I'm kinda blogged out so I decide to do that later or tomorrow. Instead, I replace our printer ink cartridges and work on something for Father's Day... but I can't put what it is since Daddy is such a loyal blog reader!

2:20 pm- You wake up and I don't know if it's my imagination or what but I swear you're crying is sadder than usual and I get worried it's because of the shots.  Your face is beet red and you're crying your head off.  I try to take your temperature with the nifty temporal thermometer but each reading is different cause you're shaking your head too much.  I decide to give up, change your diaper, and feed you.  As usual, eating instantly calms you down and you seem so much better.  You little piggy :)

3:00 pm- As you finish eating, I get a phone call from my fellow teacher friend, Amanda.  She is calling about some changes with next year's schedules and my thoughts.  You quietly eat until I hang up.

3:10 pm- You are full so I prop you on your Boppy and send out some letters/cards/thank yous I needed to get in the mail for tomorrow.

3:25 pm- You help me finish something for Father's Day and are in dire need of a booty change.  You are so giggly and talkative on the changing pad... when I take off your diaper I know why you are laughing.  Thanks for the present handsome boy!

3:35 pm- We go downstairs while you are in such a good mood and do tummy time and rolling over practice.  You roll over within the first 5 seconds of me putting you tummy side down.  Can you say show off? Mommy keeps trying to get some cute videos of you talking and rolling to put on youtube to send to our families but as soon as the video starts you get quiet.  I even have the video camera set on silent behind you so you wouldn't know you were being taped but even that doesn't work. Do you have a sixth sense or something?

3:50 pm- We wrap up all of Daddy's birthday and Father's Day presents.  With turning 30 on the 10th and his first Father's Day on the 16th we want to make sure they are both extra special :)

4:05 pm- You are starting to fuss on the floor so I put you in your swing as I finish wrapping.  You instantly get heavy eyed and fall asleep in a couple minutes.

4:10 pm- I come upstairs and do some more on this blog post.

4:20 pm- Since you are out I take advantage of this hands free time to go a quick pedicure and watch the first 15 minutes of another Mad Men episode.  Grandma Lora let us borrow all her seasons and we are almost done with season 3.

4:55pm- You start waking up in your swing and just in time cause Daddy gets home right at 5:00!

5:00 pm- Dad takes off his polo (always one of the first things he does), picks you up to say hi, then quickly runs across the street to water our neighbor lady's inside plants.  She's in California for a month with her kids and grandkids.  She LOVES your Dad. I have some stiff 75 year old competition!  You and I take all our strawberries to the back patio and Dad meets us out there.  It is a gorgeous evening and we all just hang out and catch up on each other's days.

5:30 pm- I feed you on the back patio.

5:40 pm- Dad turns on the grill to start warming up for dinner and goes inside to put on work clothes.

5:45 pm- Dad starts staining the pallet table he made for me for the patio and puts the chicken on the grill.

6:00 pm- You're finished eating so we go inside and you play on a blanket while I do my portion of dinner- cheddar biscuits, green beans, and the beer.  Coors Light for your Dad, Corona for me.

6:10 pm- I change into work clothes to help do the staining and start a load of laundry.  We go back outside and the staining is basically done so Dad doesn't need my help afterall.  So much for changing my clothes!  You swing for awhile with me, then sit in your bouncy seat and watch Dad stain.

6:45 pm- The BBQ chicken is ready and we eat dinner on the patio.

7:00 pm- You start getting fussy so Dad cuddles you and you fall asleep in his arms outside.  You are such an outside baby, we love that about you!

7:15 pm- I clean up all the dinner mess and do the dishes.

7:25 pm- I go to switch laundry and change back into my clothes from today when Dad brings you in bawling.

7:30 pm- He decides you're acting hungry so he gives you a small bottle from the fridge- you down those 2 oz. in no time so he gets you a bigger 7 oz. bottle and you eat 2 more oz. from it.

7:45 pm- I put you into your pj's for the night and you are cracking yourself up.  We have a long 5 minute conversation making noises at each other.  You are trying to imitate some of my sounds and faces.  I keep hollering for Dad to come watch but he's picking up the staining stuff outside.

8:00 pm- Load you up for our Sonic run.  Sonic has 25 shakes for summer and they are 1/2 price after 8 o'clock.  It's our goal to try all 25 this summer.  We have a checklist and everything to mark which ones we've tried- tonight will be #8.  Hopefully you'll have a sweet tooth like us :)  You fall asleep instantly in the car and don't make a peep.

8:10 pm- We leave with our shakes and drive around with the windows down since it is so pretty out.  Cruising Gardner isn't that exciting but we like it and you seem to as well.

8:30 pm- Get home and you wake up as we get into the house with a look of, "Where am I?"

8:40 pm- I start our last nursing session- your long one before bedtime where you are swaddled and cuddly.  Dad puts in the Netflix movie "Contraband" with Mark Wahlberg.

9:30 pm- Your belly is full and you have fallen asleep eating.  Dad kisses you goodnight and I take you upstairs for bed.

9:40 pm- Dad and I do a quick ab workout together in the living room and turn the movie back on.

10:00 pm- I decide to do a manicure since I'll just be sitting around watching the movie.

10:45 pm- The movie is over and we lock up the house and head upstairs for showers and getting ready for bed.

11:20 pm- We check on you one last time and kiss you goodnight then hang out in bed and look at stuff on our phones. I check the video monitor periodically when you make little noises.

11:35 pm- Phones are off, Dad sets his alarm, and we kiss and say goodnight.  Dad cuddles up with me, Harlee cuddles up on Dad's legs, and Bentley is curled up on my pillow. Our day is done!
So Cole today was just another ordinary day... nothing too exciting or crazy but a million times better because of you. These last 2 months have been so full of love thanks to you joining our family.  We can't imagine life without you in it and thank God everyday for giving us such a blessing!
